University Provost Dan Bernardo Dons Epic Buzzing Beard to Save the Bees!

In an effort to help raise funds for the University of Washington’s new Honey Bee and Pollinator Research Center, Provost Dan Bernardo willfully turned his mustache into an epic beard of thousands of bees — and he wasn’t even nervous.

The provost, who also serves as executive vice president of the university, was joined by mycologist Paul Stamets, who donated $50,000 toward the research center. Stamets stated that he “believe[s] in the intelligence of nature,” and that mushrooms may play a key role in saving bees from colony collapse.
