Marembo is a fifteen-year-old silverback gorilla who is nearly ready to make it on his own. However, as he gently roughhouses with his younger cousins, biologist and gorilla researcher Martha Robbins — who has integrated herself into Marembo’s tribe over the last twelve years — speculates that Marembo is torn between a life a freedom, and the family he’ll leave behind.
