Red Kangaroo: The Outback’s Largest Mammal

The red kangaroo is the largest still-extant marsupial; males can grow to be as tall as 2 m (6 feet), and weigh as much as 91 kg (200 pounds). Although they are called “red,” only the male of the species develops the signature rust-colored coat, whereas the dimorphic female is much smaller and has gray fur.
