These Plants Get Pretty Creative When Dispersing Their Seeds

You might not want to get hit by a projectile seed, but that’s a risk when interacting with plants that use a method called ballistichory to disperse their seeds, sometimes even as far as up to 200 feet away from the mother plant. As you’ll see in this video, plants that use ballistichory often create tension when the fibers inside them pull against each other, a tension that ultimately splits the plant open and dispels the seeds.
