Surfers Were Sick of Seeing Trash in the Ocean — So They Did Something About It

Ever seen a dirty dock and wondered why no one bothers to clean it up? Two surfers from Australia decided they'd had enough and built a filtration system to do exactly that.

The Seabin project features a simple pump, based on the same design as the system found in a fish tank, states Huffington Post. They have never caught a marine animal, meaning that it captures only the debris floating on the ocean. It can be installed in any dock or harbor and runs 24 hours a day.

Watch the video explaining Andrew Turton and Pete Ceglinski's incredible journey.
