Get a Rare Glimpse of These Huge Breaching Sharks!

The basking shark is the world's second largest shark, surpassed in size only by the whale shark. A basking shark can grow up to 30 feet in length and cruise through water at speeds up to two knots. A filter-feeder, it moves through the water with its mouth agape, lapping up plankton and fish eggs and filtering up to 2,000 tons of water per hour. Basking sharks have the smallest brain ratio among all sharks, yet they are capable of spectacular acts, such as breaching the water, as you can see in this rare footage.

Help protect them and other shark species from becoming victims of a tasteless tradition by signing this petition.
